The only company that unites tradition, innovation, and regulatory mastery to deliver the airport ecosystem of tomorrow.
In 1970, while Brazilian aviation was growing, there was a silent obstacle in the air: the lack of an essential part, the metal base for lighting, was blocking the modernization of airports. It was in this context that Walter Rios, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, responded to an urgent call from friends in the Air Force, manufacturing the missing component and lighting up the first runway in the country.
This is how Metrol was born, as a response to the real pain of an entire sector: Brazil needed safe infrastructure, designed for local realities, ready to operate in the dark and face continental‑scale challenges. From its founding as a family boiler shop to its evolution into a national leader, our journey has always been driven by the mission to remove barriers and bring new possibilities to Brazilian aviation.
The second generation of the family takes over the business and begins nationwide expansion.
Metrol’s PAPI systems are certified by ICEA, confirming the company’s quality and technical capability in providing visual aids.
The “Metrol Ecosystem” emerges: Equipment, Engineering, Airports, and Technology, a four‑pillar architecture to serve and lead the era of “Smart Airports” in Brazil.
