Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) ICAO Annex 14 and FAA L‑880 & L‑881

The Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) is a visual aid system for air navigation, installed at runway thresholds at positions defined by the executive project, with the function of providing pilots with accurate information about the ideal descent angle during final approach for landing.

Through a set of lights arranged laterally to the runway, the PAPI transmits a simple and immediate visual code, allowing the crew to adjust the flight path in order to maintain a safe approach slope, reducing the risk of unstable approaches or touchdown outside the ideal zone.

The equipment is designed and manufactured in compliance with the specifications of the ANAC, ICAO – Annex 14, and FAA L-880 & L-881 standards, in addition to fully adhering to ANAC’s operational recommendations. The system is registered on the “Legacy PCEA” list of the ICEA (Institute of Airspace Control), which ensures that its performance, safety, and reliability fully meet the technical and regulatory standards required for operation within the national territory.

Its installation is essential to ensure safe and precise landings, especially at airports with high traffic, adverse weather conditions, or complex approach runways, contributing directly to operational safety and air traffic efficiency.
